The Research Group of Terramechanics of the College of Biological and Agricultural Engineering Attended the 20th International Conference on Vehicular Terramechanics and Give a Keynote Speech
From September 27-29, 2021, the International Society of Vehicle Terramechanics (ISTVS) conducted their 20th International Academic Conference and the 9th American Regional Conference virtually. The event attracted 106 delegates from 31 countries and regions, including Professors LI Jianqiao, ZHANG Rui, and ZOU Meng from the College of Biological and Agricultural Engineering at Jilin University, who also attended the conference.
The conference included three keynote presentations and 70 branch reports covering various relevant topics in the field. Jilin University's College of Biological and Agricultural Engineering, which holds the Key Laboratory of Engineering Bionics under the Ministry of Education, made a significant contribution to the event by participating and presenting their research.
One of the highlights of the conference was the keynote speech given by Prof. LI Jianqiao. He presented his research on Lunar Regolith Strength Inference with AI Techniques from Indenter Experiments on the Chang'e 5 Lunar Sample Return Mission. The presentation sparked a heated discussion among the participants, who unanimously praised the research.
Another notable contribution was made by Prof. ZHANG Rui, who presented a group report on the Design of Bionic Wheel Surface Based on the Adhesion Characteristic of Ostrich Foot. During the presentation, Prof. ZHANG Rui answered questions and engaged in academic discussions and exchanges with international peers.
After the meeting, Prof. JY Wong, an authoritative expert in the field of vehicle terramechanics, and Prof. Lutz, Vice Chairman of ISTVS, sent an email to Prof. LI Jianqiao to extend their congratulations to the team from China Ground Machine System Mechanics and Jilin University for their impressive achievements. The ground machine system mechanics team, represented by academician REN Luquan of Jilin University, has a close connection with ISTVS. This conference provided an excellent opportunity for academic exchange, which will further enhance the international reputation and academic status of Jilin University in this research field. Moreover, it may open doors for Jilin University to undertake more national deep space exploration missions in the future.
